BLOCK D: PLANS TO EXPERIENCE EVERYDAY LIFE OF THOSE WHO HAVE TROUBLE GETTING WATER

posted May 02, 2012 01:01:10 by sofia
WHO: Habitat person in charge, Ms. Carter, Ms. Cecy Hernandez, communicate with people that experience the harsh life of not having water.
WHAT: 1. This specific day the students will not have water to drink. They will have to go to the Finca and grab the water from the fountain or a pool full of water which will be installed by the Service Learning Committee. When they have to go get water they will have an internal struggle of choosing the small container to bring water or the big container. They have to bring the water to Ms. CarterĀ“s classroom and boil the water to get rid of the bacteria. This water that they prepared will be the water that they will drink for the whole day and if they are thirsty and finished the water they had. They have to go back to the Finca and grab the water and boil it again and so on.
2. One Saturday Ms. CarterĀ“s chemistry students should come to the track at 11:30 to 2:00pm to experience the hot and burning sun. The point of this trip is to experience the thirst the people in the field experience. What will we do for 2:30 hours? Activities will be planned so they can play and do activities. There is a twist to this activity, water will be very limited during these hours. This experience will create which after the games they will be thirsty wanting water
